Supra Scapular Nerve Blocks
Our Services
Supra Scapular Nerve Blocks
A targeted injection that relieves chronic shoulder pain by blocking the nerve responsible for most shoulder sensation.
What is Supra Scapular Nerve Blocks?
The suprascapular nerve provides sensation to approximately 70% of the shoulder joint. A suprascapular nerve block delivers local anesthetic and corticosteroid directly to this nerve, interrupting pain signals from the shoulder and providing significant relief for patients with chronic shoulder pain from arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, or post-surgical pain.
What to Expect
- 1
Evaluation to confirm suprascapular nerve involvement in your shoulder pain
- 2
The injection is guided by fluoroscopy or ultrasound for precise needle placement
- 3
Local anesthetic and corticosteroid are delivered to the nerve
- 4
Relief is typically felt within hours and can last weeks to months
- 5
Repeat injections can be performed to maintain long-term pain control
Who This Treatment Helps
Patients with chronic shoulder pain from osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), post-surgical shoulder pain, or other shoulder conditions who have not found adequate relief from oral medications or physical therapy.
